From Susan's Van

June 18: Williams

In Susan's van driving back from the Grand Canyon contributions from: Susan Notorangelo, Susie Garrett, Gerry Tatrai, Jean Keffeler, Steve Hall, and Erwin Grieder. (Note: We had two vans for the trip to the Grand Canyon. We rented the second one in Williams for the evening that Lon drove. Also in Susan's van, but asleep in the back were Rebecca Haldeman and Elaine Mariolle)

An Ode to a Headwind

A headwind is not my friend,
Much better to get hit from the other end.

Winds that blow into my face,
Blister my lips and check my pace
Fortunately, there is another way,
Next time PAC tour heads out from L.A.!!

An Ode to a Rough Road

Corrugations in the roadway
Hurt my butt and break my chainstay.

Expansion joints much the same,
Rattle my joints and break my frame.

Gravel roads are much, much worse,
May as well send a hearse!

An Ode to the Sun

Sunblock 45
Barely keeps me alive.

Morning's delight
Is afternoon's plight.

Desert's ahead at 110
Strengthens the women and scatters the men!

An Ode to the Rain

Rain, rain go away
Don't come back.

An Ode to Dogs

Snarling, frothing, yipping,
Jumping, whining, chasing.

Man's best friend is a pain in the ast
He takes a chunk when I go past!

An Ode to Hunger

Hunger is quite a pain
It makes my speed go down the drain.
